Everyone seems to be talking about privacy these days. From the New York Times to Congressional offices, and from your parent communities to your district technology leaders, not a day goes by without someone talking about privacy or the latest data security incident. But in a world in which children are growing up online, out loud, and where data seems to be flowing everywhere, does privacy even matter to our students? And if it does, how can the idea of privacy be realized in the modern world? As children move seamlessly from one device to another and seemingly share their information without a care, what should we be teaching them today to help them safely navigate their world, and become coders of ethical tech in the future? What should they know in order to create control over their privacy, and what can we learn about protecting our own privacy in the process?
