Two Literacy Tools to Support Reading & Writing for All Students

Feedback form is now closed.
As many as two-thirds of students in classrooms today struggle in reading and writing.  This includes students who speak English as a second language, students with learning disabilities, and a whole lot of other students who do not yet possess the skills needed to meet today’s rigorous standards.  While the G Suite environment provides great tools for productivity and collaboration, many literacy supports needed by these struggling students are still lacking.

In this session, attendees will see a demonstration of two great tools:  Read&Write for Google Chrome and WriQ, the writing achievement tool.  These Chrome extensions work with Google Docs, web pages, and other common file types such as PDF, ePub and JPG in Google Drive.  With Read&Write, participants will learn more about common technology supports such as text-to-speech, word prediction, dictation, text and picture dictionaries, annotations...and more.  With WriQ, see how this tool is used to easily assess and motivate student writing while providing automated meaningful feedback and delivering a standardized benchmark for grading.

Participants in this session will:
- Learn to accommodate different learning styles using tools from the Read&Write for Google Chrome Toolbar
- Create customized vocabulary lists and study guides
- See how WriQ helps educators easily assess and track student writing while providing feedback and motivation directly to students - helping to increase and improve their writing skills.
- Learn how to access a “Free for Teachers” account

This session will be hosted by Texthelp, Inc.
