In 2100, today’s five-year-olds will be 86 years old. What will life be like for today’s kindergarteners in 2100? Their children and grandchildren? There are many possibilities, but the essential question is, Bladerunner Dystopia or a healthy planet, a healthy human race? Our children bring the same narrative of truth to our classrooms today that they have brought to learning for thousands of years. As we explore the meaning of that timeless narrative in a changing world, we must ask. What do we want children to be? If we can determine that, how do we create the experiences and opportunities that will allow our children to build their best future? It is our responsibility to ensure their readiness for that world and that can only happen by adapting space, culture, technologies, time, and practices to create the learning experiences our children need.
