For most students, partaking in the interrogation of their identity is difficult.  Many do not comprehend their own positionality in the larger context of the world and how that shapes their perceptions.  This session will walk educators through tips on conducting inclusive critical conversations in the classroom; introduce students to the concepts of intersectionality, power, marginalization, social action, systemic oppression, and civic engagement; use technology to provide students with community leadership opportunities.  Participants will walk through a unit of study with purposeful integration of technology that will help them fulfill the role of collaborators and allies to students; help them learn about their positionality, link to other communities, and lead as agents of change. The session will also focus on teaching students to celebrate and honor differences as well as recognize the importance of individual lived experiences and stories by creating spaces for students to share their stories.
