In today’s classrooms, teachers have access to a wide range of technology apps and tools that can have transformative impacts. But with the increased use of technology in schools, stories of data breaches and hacks are becoming more common. During the 2019 legislative session, the state of Illinois passed a new Student Online Personal Protection Act (House Bill 3606) that will require schools, educational technology vendors, and the Illinois State Board of Education to adopt policies and procedures to better safeguard student data.
