PBL, Virtual Reality and Inquiry: Make Learning Immersive and Meaningful

What does the slide deck to teach a child to walk look like? It's a ridiculous question because there are some lessons that a lecture and powerpoint just cannot teach. What makes for a meaningful learning experiences? What do our meaningful experiences have in common? Educational trends such as AR/VR, Action Civics and PBL have and their core one key idea: Situated Cognition. How can we work to create more meaningful experiences for our students and tap into the great power Immersive Learning. I will discuss Situated Cognition and share examples of where it is already relevant. Then discuss how asking "Is the learning situated" we can make our lessons more powerful and school more relevant.
