When students are self-motivated, see personal utility in their learning, and have a voice in what they create to show what they know and can do, the classroom becomes a place of boundless creativity, skill building, and opportunity. Using UDL to design learning experiences for students and giving them the responsibility and freedom to design their own authentic assessments not only improves the depth of student understanding, but also provides students opportunities to improve planning, design, and various other critical thinking skills. In this presentation, we'll share how UDL can be used in elementary, junior high, and high school classrooms, as well as share unit resources and planning processes to help teachers use UDL effectively in their classrooms for the benefit of all learners.
