Digital technology is quickly replacing spiral notebooks as a means for student’s science notes, research, and data collection. We have successfully used online digital portfolio/notebook options and are excited to show you how easy it is to make the switch. Our presentation will fully engage the audience practicing with hands on science and STEM based activities to learn various digital portfolio platforms. Participants will be joining a digital classroom and creating portfolio entries that represent how their students would use the actual tools. We will also show demonstrations of our actual student samples. Attendees will learn that their students will be more actively engaged and have more ownership and pride. Students capture their hands-on labs using video, pictorial, and written notes and share it with an authentic audience. Online digital portfolio/notebooks allow students to record their thinking and data results and submit to teachers for review and easy grading. Portfolios can also be shared with families to give them a birds-eye view into the classroom. This session is appropriate for primary, elementary, and middle school and supports the 3-dimension practices of NGSS and ISTE standards.
