Creating Reflective Learners Through Metacognition and Retrieval Practice

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
Teachers will learn formative assessment strategies and tools that allow for retrieval practice and immediate feedback. Teachers will also learn how they can teach the skill of metacognition to their students and how this skill coupled with formative assessments can allow for students to be more thoughtful and independent learners. By providing students with the strategies, tools, and opportunities to reflect on their own learning we create an environment of constant improvement. By using research based strategies like retrieval practice and interleaving teachers can provide students with feedback on their learning progress while also help to guide future instructional decisions. Teachers will have the opportunity to share with their peers strategies they have used in their classroom as well as brainstorm how metacognition and retrieval practice could be used in their classroom.
