Bite-Size Mastery: Nibbling on Mastery Learning

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Bite-size mastery learning is an approach to learning that builds on principles of formative assessment, learner paced instruction, response to intervention, and enrichment for advanced learners. Participants will learn how to organize their classroom for short, highly effective, mastery learning based experiences. Within a single hour or class period, teachers can see tremendous growth in their students' content knowledge through the targeted, purposeful, and effective use of formative assessment and flexible grouping. During the session, participants will not only experience what bite-size mastery feels like for students, but also begin to design a bite-size mastery experience for their own classroom. Before leaving, they will have a lesson partially planned and a slew of resources to help them with their next steps. This is an engaging, interactive presentation with plenty of opportunities for implementing the ideas we discuss!
