Preparing students for the future includes teaching them basic skills, but also introducing them to existing and changing technologies. Last year, a student told me their average daily screen time was 11 hours per day, but some days were as much as 14 hours on weekends. How does technology affect us, but more importantly how does it affect our students? How can we help and encourage creating a balance when coding, robotics, AI and other technology jobs require hours of screen time to develop skills? How can we assist students in creating a positive “digital” footprint? This presentation will focus on the research answering these questions as well as suggestions and tips to support our students in creating healthy technology habits in the classroom and home.
